Cliffs at Sunset 14 x 11

This original Alcohol Ink painting is part of my Dreamscapes collection. This group of artwork is about quick creation without worrying about perfection. There isn't time to be perfect anyway, the medium dries very quickly and is really difficult to control, forcing me to be in the moment, enjoy the process, and play. However, in this piece, I attempted to break away from my typical free form mountain landscapes and use the medium in a more process and controlled way, despite its aversion to being controlled. I learned that balance between the two CAN be achieved, though it takes much more time, patience, and manipulation of the materials. I really enjoyed how the sky and ocean became one continues body of color that still somehow splits into sky and sea. It has very active, exciting energy.
